intelligent Wheel Flange Lubrication - iWFL

iWFL FALCON iWFL Controller

RHL offer an on-train oil spray system that can be retro-fitted and is both technically and cost effective,

The iWFL (intelligent Wheel Flange Lubrication) FALCON unit controls wheel flange lubrication and application equipment on
rail vehicles.

The present alternative methods of application do not promote effective use of lube at the positions when and where it is required most or not at all. The benefits are therefore restricted and the cost over-stated.

iWFL has been designed to apply lube exactly when and where it is required and in the right amounts, enabling it to be technically effective and economic.

Benefits of iWFL

In ongoing trials...... the wheelset achieved 85,000km’s compared to the average 55,000km’s
Wheel and track wear are greatly reduced, extending service and maintenance intervals, reducing down-time, reducing costs and increasing potential revenues.

In ongoing trials on a Metrolink tram in Manchester, the wheelset achieved 85,000km’s compared to the average 55,000km’s. This is especially significant as the tram ran on the particular tough Eccles route and as a lone test tram – not as part of a system of trams with iWFL that achieve ongoing lubrication across the whole system.

iWFL also improves passenger and driver comfort by reducing wheel ‘screech’ noise levels.

The lube is environmentally friendly bio-degradable and applied in minimal amounts that will disperse and break down naturally.

Ongoing costs of iWFL relating to lube purchase, wheel and track wear and vehicle down-time are all reduced.

iWFL - Types of Controls

The iWFL Falcon controller is available in configurations that the customer requires, allowing control with various levels of precision according to the train operator requirements.  FAL...
