CURRENT MONITORING
Non Intrustive Current Monitoring (NIC)
Continuous current monitoring for early fault detection
Rowe Hankins Non-Intrusive Current Monitors measure electrical current without requiring a direct electrical connection to the monitored conductor. This allows current monitoring to be added to compatible systems while minimising intervention in the existing circuit.
The NIC range supports monitoring of current behaviour to help identify abnormal changes that may indicate developing equipment issues. Depending on the selected model, outputs can be integrated with compatible monitoring equipment to provide current measurements and optional trip indication.

KEY FEATURES
Designed for reliable earth fault monitoring
Straightforward Installation
DIN-rail mounting and a conductor aperture support installation into compatible electrical panels and equipment.
Status Indicators
Power-on and trip LEDs provide local status indication on the NIC 361 Series.
Optional Trip Indication
A trip-level option can provide a relay output when the specified current threshold is reached.
4–20 mA Output
The NIC 361 Series provides a 4–20 mA output proportional to the monitored current, supporting integration with compatible monitoring equipment.
Continuous Monitoring
Provide ongoing visibility of current behaviour to support system monitoring and maintenance activities.
Non-Intrusive Measurement
Monitor current without making a direct electrical connection to the monitored conductor.

AC and DC earth leakage detection units
TECHNOLOGY
How Non-Intrusive Current Monitoring Works
Measuring current without direct electrical contact
A conductor carrying the current to be monitored passes through the aperture of the NIC unit. An internal current transducer senses the magnetic field associated with the current and converts it into a signal for processing. The NIC 361 Series then provides a 4–20 mA output representing the measured current. Where a trip-level option is fitted, a comparator can trigger a relay output when the specified threshold is reached.
This allows current information to be passed to compatible monitoring or control equipment without inserting the monitor directly into the electrical path.
